#15 Gettysburg gets the better of women's basketball on Sunday

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball dropped their second game of the Jean Beamer Tip-Off Classic to #15 Gettysburg on Sunday to go 1-1 on the weekend.

How It Happened 

  • Gettysburg struck first from the free throw line, but Roanoke responded in the form of a Paige Breuer jump shot to take the lead. The lead was short lived however as Gettysburg worked their way to a 20-11 lead to end the period. 

  • Roanoke tried to work their way back in during the first minute of the second, as they went on a six-point run but Gettysburg commanded the three minutes to widen their lead. At the half the score was 47-32 in favor of the Bullets. 

  • The Maroons raised the intensity defensively after the half, but Gettysburg kept finding ways to score, making it 68-45 through three. 

  • Roanoke did not go down without a fight though and ended up outscoring the Bullets in the fourth, 24-23 to bring the score to final at 91-69. 
      

Notes and Notables 

  • Breuer recorded her first 20+ point game of her young career, tallying 21 points in the contest. It was her second double digit point game of the season. 

  • Abigail Rice and Katie Lam also hit the double-digit threshold, recording 14 and 13 points respectively. 

  • Nadia Snesarev paced the squad in assists with four. Gaby LoPresti was the only other Maroon to register multiple helpers with two. 

  • Mariah Cain had the most steals for RC on the evening, taking three away from Gettysburg. 

Up Next 
RC competes in another tournament next weekend as they head to the RMC Tip-Off Cassic hosted by Randolph-Macon. They are set to take on #6 Johns Hopkins on Friday (Nov. 22) at 8:00 pm and Dickinson on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 2:00 pm.
