ASHLAND, Va. - The Roanoke College women's basketball squad were bested on Friday night by the #6 ranked Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays in their first game of the RMC Tip-Off Classic.

How It Happened 

• The Maroons kept up with Johns Hopkins for the first six minutes of the game. The Blue Jays started to pull away in the final few minutes of the first quarter. After the first the score was 28-9. 

• Hopkins kept their foot on the gas in the second period, with the score at the half being 54-18. 

• Roanoke kept it closer in the third quarter, but the Blue Jays still had a slight upper hand, outscoring RC 16-10. 

• Hopkins continued to show why they are a top 10 team in the fourth, bringing the score to final at 93-41. 
     

Notes and Notables 

• Freshman Kiley Hylton led the Maroons in scoring with 12 points, the first double digit game of her young career. 

• Mariah Cain picked up six rebounds, all on the defensive side of the ball, to lead the team in the category. Peyton Kirchner was right behind Cain with five rebounds on the night. 

• Cain and Nadia Snesarev both dished out three assists on the night. 

• Alicea Farmer, Reese Fritz, and Cain all posted two steals in the game. 

• Kirchner had the team lead in blocks, with two.
