The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team trailed by just 10 with a little over 10 minutes left to play but Hampden-Sydney College, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III, closed strong for a 74-48 victory Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.  

How it happened:
*Roanoke trailed 21-9 at the 5:42 mark of a low-scoring first half but cut the lead to 10 (27-17) at intermission.
*The Tigers led 45-35 with 10:48 left in the game and an 8-0 surge as part of a larger 23-5 run put the game out of reach.  

Inside the numbers:
*Joshua McClary scored a team-high 13 points with three steals.
*Marcus Morgan scored 10 points with a game-best 10 rebounds.
*Joshua Morse contributed 10 points and six rebounds, sinking 8-of-10 free throws.
*Justin Kuthan had five points and seven boards.
*Ryan Clements tallied 19 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals for Hampden-Sydney (18-1/10-1 ODAC).
