Clayton Gaither scored a career-high 23 points Saturday afternoon as the Roanoke College men's basketball team defeated visiting Randolph College 79-53 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game in the Cregger Center. The Maroon defense didn't allow the Wildcats to score in the final 8:06 of the contest.
How it happened:
*Roanoke opened a 31-13 lead at the 8:50 mark of the first half but the Wildcats pulled within 10 (33-23) five minutes later. The Maroons finished the half strong and took a 43-25 edge into intermission.
*It was just a six-point game with eight minutes left but Roanoke erased all doubt as to the outcome by finishing on a 20-0 run.
Inside the numbers:
*Gaither went 5-7 from three-point range.

Justin Kuthan had 16 points and five rebounds, while fellow post player
Joshua Morse had a double double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

*Randolph (7-9/1-6) had six scorers with seven points or more, but none in double figures.
