The Short Story:  The Roanoke men's soccer team leveled their ODAC record on Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney at Kerr Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maroons controlled the tempo most of the scoreless first half, taking eight shots to the Tigers' three and collecting nine corner kicks to just one for the visitors.
• The urgency in second half to score first was more evident as both teams attempted more aggressive passes. One of those at midfield by the Tigers saw the Maroons steal the ball and Slate Danforth weaved through traffic before tapping the ball for a crossing Michael Ramsey for the lone goal of the game at 54:55. 

BY THE NUMBERS

• Luca Gustafson picked up his fourth win in goal for Roanoke, playing all 90 minutes, making three saves. 

UP NEXT

• Roanoke is on the road this Wednesday, Oct. 4 when they pay a visit to Newport News to take on Christopher Newport. Game time with the Captains is scheduled for 5 p.m.
