The Short Story:  The Roanoke women's soccer team continued their hot run at home with a 1-0 shutout win over the visiting Ferrum Panthers in a midweek ODAC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maroons controlled the ball in the early part of the first half having possession in the offensive half of the field, taking seven shots, including two on goal, in the first 13 minutes.
• Brooke Nicholson broke through at 17:23 for what would be the lone and game-winning goal of the game, putting the Maroons ahead 1-0.
• Defense took over the rest of the half with only seven shots between the two teams the rest of the period. 
• The second half saw the Maroons continue their offensive push, but both defenses held through the last 45 minutes as neither team scored, preserving the 1-0 win for Roanoke.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Taylor Gallik came in relief of starter Hannah Aemisegger in the 25th minute and immediately made two of her three saves in the game to keep the Panthers off the board.
• The Maroons took 25 shots in the game, including 11 on goal while Ferrum managed just six, three on goal.

• Roanoke wraps up their six-game home stand on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host Randolph. Game time with the WildCats is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
