The Short Story: After dropping a four set match to start the season, the Roanoke women's volleyball team avenged that loss with a 3-0 sweep of the WildCats, wrapping up a three-match home stand on Saturday afternoon at the Cregger Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Randolph won four the first five points to take an early first set lead and maintained until 16-12. That is when the Maroons went on an 11-2 run to jump out to a 23-18 lead. Three points later, the Maroons had a 1-0 set lead, 25-19.
- The teams traded points throughout the early portion of the second set with Randolph having a slim 15-13 lead. A 5-0 run by the Maroons gave them a three-point lead, one they would not give up en route to a 25-20 set two win.
- Set three saw the WildCats take a 5-1 lead and then extend it to a 12-7 advantage. However, the Maroons went on an 11-2 run, taking their own four-point lead. Roanoke won seven of the final 10 points of the set, including the final five as the completed the sweep with a 25-17 set three win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- While both teams had four blocks, the Maroons led in the offensive categories: kills (37-29), aces (7-3), assists (35-28), and digs (45-36).
- Ryanna Clark led the Maroons with 11 kills.
- Kylee Draper had the match-high 20 assists while Aubrey Brown also dished out double figure assists with 10.
- Payten Johnson led the team in digs with 14 while Brynlee Burrill had 10.

- Roanoke hits the road on Tuesday, Sept. 26 when the travel to face off against Virginia University of Lynchburg (NOT to be confused with the University of Lynchburg). The contest will be played at Williams Gym on the campus of Sweet Briar College at 7 p.m.
