The Short Story: The Bulldogs scored in the second minute before extending their lead in the second and third period as the Roanoke field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest on the road at DeSales, 7-3, on Saturday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After DeSales took the lead in the second minute, Mary Wisher found Grace Vernarelli in front of the cage for the game-tying goal in the 12th minute.
- The second saw the Bulldogs retake the lead with a trio of goals to take a 4-1 lead into the break.
- DeSales opened the second half wit a goal in the 35th minute before Vernarelli scored an unassisted goal, her second of the game.
- Back-to-back goals by the Bulldogs was answered a Tess Taloumis goal in the 58th minute to provide for the final 7-3 score.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Madison Wingerter made five saves while playing all 60 minutes in goal for the Maroons
