THE GAME FACTS
Score: Roanoke 3, Lynchburg 2

The Short Story: Normally a come-from-behind win would be the top feature of a game, but tonight Roanoke women's volleyball head coach Blair Trail collected her 400th win as a collegiate head coach as the Maroons came back to secure the 3-2 win over Lynchburg on Friday evening at the Cregger Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Maroons got things started on the right track in the first set to take a 13-8 lead over Lynchburg. Roanoke would maintain their lead and get a set point at 24-21 but three straight points by the Hornets sent the match into extra time. Two more Roanoke set points was then followed by two Lynchburg set points before three straight points, capped by kills by Ryanna Clark and Peyton Kirchner, gave the Maroons the 30-28 set one win.
The second set saw the Hornets use a few small runs to jump out to a 24-18 set led before leveling the match at a set apiece, 25-20.
Leading by as many six in the early goings of the third set, Lynchburg saw its lead evaporate when the Maroons went on a 5-0 run to take a 21-20 set lead. However the Hornets used a 5-1 run of their own to take a 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set saw Lynchburg make a small lead at 12-9 before a seven-point run by the Maroons gave them a 16-12 lead, before going point for point as Roanoke evened the match up at 2-2 with another Kirchner kill.
In the deciding set, the two teams were locked up at 3-3 with the Maroons claiming the next three points, taking the 6-3 advantage. The Hornets slowly chipped away before tying the set up at 11-11, a Hornet attack error, two kills by Rylee Mayer and a double-block by Kirchner and Sara Waller closed out the match 15-11.

BY THE NUMBERS

Three Maroons reached double figure kills led by Mayer's 18 along with Kirchner's 15 and Clark's 14.
Five was a lucky number for Kirchner, along with her 1-5 kills, she added five aces and five digs.
Kylee Draper had a season-high 45 assists to go along with 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the season, her third in a row.
Payten Johnson had the match-high 33 digs to lead four Maroons in double-figures. Brynlee Burrill and Draper both had 13 with Taylor Maione adding 12.
