The Lead: The Roanoke men's lacrosse team outscored Washington and Lee on Tuesday evening in the third and fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Generals as W&L left Kerr Stadium with a 16-12 win over the Maroons.

How it Happened/Highlights:

  • The Generals scored a pair of goals quickly to take a 2-0 lead. Roanoke responded nearly immediately after the second W&L goal with one from DJ Nolan, off an assist from Julian Kammerman at 13:03. Less than two minutes later Noah Goad took a pass from Ethan Caldwell for a goal to tie the game up at 2-2. The Generals then went on a 4-0 run before a goal by Luke Kammerman, from Matthew Albertson, brought the Maroons back within three at the end of the first quarter, 6-3.
  • W&L doubled their lead in the second quarter despite Maroon goals from L. Kammerman and Nolan in the period.
  • The Maroons trailed 11-5 at the break and came back and scored the first goal of the second half on an unassisted shot by J. Kammerman. The Generals answered with three goals before the Maroons responded with three of their own by L. Kammerman (2x) and Wyatt Whitlow to pull within five heading to the fourth.
  • Roanoke scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter with the Generals then scoring two more of their own. A goal by Goad with 8:40 left was the final addition to the scoreboard for either team as the General left with a 16-12 win.
  • L. Kammerman finished the game with a game-high five goals and one assist. Goad (3) and Nolan (2) also had multiple goals against W&L.

Up Next: Roanoke is back home on Saturday, April 22 in the final game of the regular season against Hampden-Sydney. Game time with the Tigers is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Kerr Stadium
