The Basics

The Lead: It might have been a slow start for the Roanoke men's lacrosse team but the goals began to pour in in the second quarter as the Maroons unstung the Shenandoah Hornets 19-5 on a blustery day at Kerr Stadium. Prior to the start of the game, Roanoke honored its 10 seniors as part of Senior Day activities. 

How it Happened/Highlights:

• It took nearly 10 minutes for the either team to score, with Luke Kammerman finding Quinn Evans for the first goal of the game. Luca Docking would add one more in the first quarter off a pass from Ethan Caldwell to put Roanoke ahead 2-0 after the first 15 minutes. 
• Docking, L. Kammerman (2x), and Wyatt Whitlow each scored to start the second quarter to extend the Roanoke lead to 6-0. Back-to-back goals by the Hornets cut the lead to 6-2 with 3:11 left before the break. Whitlow answered for the Maroons at 2:46 to put Roanoke ahead 7-2 at halftime. 
• The third quarter saw Whitlow, Dominic Cuomo, and Evans all score for the Maroons before Shenandoah tallied a goal with the home team leading 13-3 with 2:33 left in the quarter. L. Kammerman answered immediately for the Maroons with a goal just 10 seconds later. 
• Roanoke added goals by Caldwell, Cuomo, L. Kammerman and Aidan Sullivan while the Hornets added a pair of goals in the fourth as the Maroons extended their lead for the 19-5 win over Shenandoah.
• Alex Feuer played into the fourth quarter for Roanoke whlie making 14 saves to earn his sixth win of the season.
• L. Kammerman led the Maroons on the day with four goals and assisted on five others for nine points. 
• John Dias finished the game with five ground balls and forced two turnovers for the Maroon defense. 
• The 10 seniors that were honored include:  Greg Oakes, Cole Hiller, Carson Peck, Reece Reynolds, John Dias, Greg Fisher, Stephen Conte, Ryley Brohel, Ben Warn, and Caldwell.

Up Next: Roanoke is on the road for their next game on Saturday, April 8 when they travel to No. 11 Lynchburg. The ODAC contest with the Hornets is scheduled for 7 p.m.
