The Short Story:Â The Roanoke men's basketball team fell on the road in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon in Winchester to Shenandoah, 79-71.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams would battle early, keeping it close, before Roanoke would take a seven-point lead at 12:32 on a Joshua McClary layup, 14-7. SU would chip away and retake the lead with six minutes left in the first half. The Maroons kept it close not allowing the Hornets to lead by more than four, a lead that would be taken into the locker room.Â
- SU slowly built up their lead to as many as 12 with 7:31Â left in the game. A Hornet jumper with 3:54 on put the hosts up by 15 before the Maroon began to cut down the lead. Roanoke would get the lead down to six with 16 seconds left before SU settled in for the 79-71 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Justin Kuthan led the Maroons for the second-straight game with 23 points and seven rebounds.
- Marcus Morgan (16) and Zach Rosenthal (13) also reached double-figures.
- Roanoke led the Hornets in points off turnovers (21-17), second chance points (10-2), and points in the paint (54-34)
