Maroons Fall to Bridgewater in ODAC Finale

THE GAME FACTS
Score:
 Bridgewater 3, Roanoke 1
Location: Salem, Va.

The Short Story:  After the Roanoke women's volleyball team took the first set Bridgewater made a comeback to claim a 3-1 ODAC win over the Maroons on Thursday evening in the Cregger Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It was a close first set as the two teams traded early leads with BC holding a 14-12 lead. The Maroons then went on a 6-0 run starting with an Eagle service error and a BC attack error to take an 18-14 lead. Roanoke would not give up the lead, despite multiple ties and eventually cash in on their second set point opportunity with a kill by Ryanna Clark.
  • The second set was nearly a true back-and-forth affair as teams traded the lead early before the Eagles would gathered their biggest lead by four. The Maroons cut it down to one at 16-15, however BC would once again stretch it to a four point lead and eventually hold on for the 25-11 set win.
  • Small leads by both teams early in the third saw the Eagles with an 11-9 lead. A 9-1 run by the visitors would be cut down to a five point lead at 23-18, but BC closed out the set with the final two points for the 2-1 match advantage.
  • The fourth set saw Bridgewater use a few small runs to put themselves ahead 24-14 and would close out the set 25-16, and the match 3-1.

BY THE NUMBERS
