The Short Story:  The Roanoke field hockey team hit the road for the final two contests of the regular season, beginning with a visit to Lexington. The Maroons dropped a 4-0 ODAC contest to Washington and Lee on Wednesday evening.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Defense was the name of the game in the first quarter with neither team being able to score and each one firing two shots.
• The second quarter saw the Generals offense make an appearance with 10 shots including what would be the game-winning goal at 21:38, giving WLU the 1-0 lead at halftime.
• The third quarter saw the home team score just 2:16 into the half to put the Generals on top 2-0.
• A pair of goals in four minutes in the fourth quarter put a cap on the game as WLU finished with a 4-0 win.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Madison Wingerter played all 60 minutes in goal, making five saves.

UP NEXT

• Roanoke closes out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they visit Ashland and Randolph-Macon. Game time with the Yellow Jackets is scheduled for 5 p.m.
