The Short Story:  The Roanoke field hockey team dropped a 4-1 ODAC contest in their final home of the regular season at Kerr Stadium on Saturday afternoon to the Shenandoah Hornets. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Hornets were able to get on the board first with a pair of goals in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.
• The second period saw the Maroons control the possession more. It paid off at 3:55 when Mary Wisher tapped the ball to Lindsey Keyes who pushed a ball into the goal, cutting the Hornet lead down to 2-1.
• After a scoreless third quarter, SU added a third goal in the first five minutes of the fourth to give themselves a two-goal space between them and the Maroons.
• The Hornets added a fourth goal with less than 30 seconds left to get the final 4-1 win.

BY THE NUMBERS

• Madison Wingerter played all 60 minutes in goal, making four saves.
