The Short Story:  The Roanoke women's volleyball team made its second trip to Danville this season, but took on host Averett for the first time. The Maroons made quick work of the Cougars with a 3-0 sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first set saw the Maroons jump out to an early 7-1 lead before taking as much as a nine-point advantage at 15-6. Roanoke would close out the set 25-18 to take a 1-0 set lead. 
• The Maroons led for most of the second set with AU tying the score at 15-15 and 20-20. Roanoke would get the first set point at 24-22 before three points by the home team would give them their own set point. a block by Rylee Mayer and Ryanna Clark, a kill by Sara Waller and a kill by Mayer would close out the set in favor of the visitors and give Roanoke a 2-0 match lead with an extra point 27-25 set two win.
• Set three saw both teams take leads throughout the early and middle part of the set. The two teams would lock up at 23-23, but a kill by Clark and a Trinity Hylton service ace closed out the set 25-23 and the match 3-0

BY THE NUMBERS

• The Maroons had the statistical advantage in points (56-44), kills (37-36), aces (11-4), and blocks (8-4). The teams were tied with 35 assists each.
• Kylee Draper recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 17 assists and 11 digs.

• Roanoke is back home on Saturday, Oct. 14 when it hosts Shenandoah at Kerr Stadium. Game time with the Hornets is scheduled for 7 p.m.
