Women's Soccer Spoils EMU's Homecoming With 4-0 Win

The Short Story: The Roanoke women's soccer team scored four goals in the first half as the Maroons spoiled EMU's homecoming weekend with a 4-0 win over the Royals

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Maroons got on the scoreboard for the first time in the 19th minute when MC Petrucelli scored the game-winner at 18:35.
  • Just 10 minutes later Rebecca Carr took a pass from Morgan O'Neill at 28:54 that she put past the EMU goalie for an insurance goal.
  • Roanoke took half the time between their first two goals for the third when Tessa McMillan scored one on a penalty kick goal.
  • McMillan then would find Madalyn Szoke for the final goal of the half at 39:30. 
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final 45 minutes as Roanoke left Harrisonburg with the 4-0 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The win moves the Maroons in sole posession of first place in the ODAC.
  • Roanoke outshot the Royals 30-7 over the 90 minutes.
  • Carr's goal moved her into sixth in the ODAC in goals scored this season.
  • Taylor Gallik played the first 36:32 and made one save to earn the win.
UP NEXT
  • Roanoke remains on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when they travel to Lexington to take on Washington and Lee in a matchup of the top two teams in the ODAC. Game time with the Generals is scheduled for 7 p.m.
