The Short Story: The Roanoke women's volleyball team honored its lone senior, Ryanna Clark, prior to their match on Thursday evening and continued to honor her with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Hollins.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first few points of the first set was a back-and-forth affair with Hollins leading 5-4. However, the Maroons would go on an 8-0 run to jump out to a seven-point lead. After Hollins cut the lead to four at 20-16, the Maroons claimed the final five points for the 25-16 set one win.
- The second set saw Roanoke jump out to an early 11-4 lead. By the end of the set, the Maroons would expand that to a 14 point lead before closing it out 25-12 for the 2-0 match lead
- The Maroons took an 11-6 lead to start the third set before Hollins wnt on a 5-1 run to cut the lead down to one. A few points later and Roanoke would go on a 7-1 run to stake themselves a 22-14 lead. Still leading 23-19, the Maroons would close out the match for the 3-0 sweep
BY THE NUMBERS
- Clark shared the team lead in both kills (8, with Peyton Kirchner) and blocks (3, with Kirchner and Sara Waller).
- Roanoke had the second-highest ace total of the season with 13.

- Roanoke is back home on Saturday, Oct. 14 when it hosts Shenandoah at Kerr Stadium. Game time with the Hornets is scheduled for 7 p.m.
