Nationally-Ranked Captains Take Win Over Maroons on Sunday

The Short Story:  It was a quick turnaround for the Roanoke field hockey as nationally-ranked Christopher Newport visited Kerr Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Captains left Salem with a win over the Maroons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • CNU took the lead nearly midway through the first quarter at 6:30 and added two more goals in the first half, including one with 17 seconds left before halftime.
  • The Captains added three more goals in the second half to pull away for the win over the Maroons.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Christopher Newport took 34 shots in the game with 19 being on goal.
  • Madison Wingerter played all 60 minutes in goal, making season-high 11 saves
