The Lead: The Roanoke College Men's Basketball team extended its winning streak to six games with a 107-95 victory in ODAC Men's Basketball action on Wednesday evening in Salem.
How it Happened:
- RC was led by John Fitchett who had 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting and he also grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
- Fitchett was one of five Maroons in double-figures. Carter Wright had 17 points, Joey Miller had 15, while Bryce Woodcliff and John Caldwell each had 10.
- Eastern Mennonite was led by Jerome James who had 23 points. EMU also got 19 points from Maleke Jones and 17 from Isaiah Harris-Winn.
- RC came out hot, taking a 12-0 lead on a Fitchett three-pointer and would grow its advantage to 21-5 on a Dustin Hassell bucket.
- The Maroons would extend its lead to 26 points with just under five minutes to go in the first half, eventually taking a 59-37 edge into the locker room.
- Eastern Mennonite chipped away during the second-half and was able to pull within three-points on a Jones three-point play followed by a basket to cut it within six with 1:39 to go.
- That would be as close as the Royals would get as Wright knocked down a three-pointer on the next trip down the court to ice the game for the Maroons.
