Roanoke Falls on the road to #9 Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. --- Roanoke fell to #9 Randolph-Macon, 90-53 at Crenshaw Gym on Thursday evening. The Yellow Jackets improved to 17-2 overall, 10-1 in the ODAC. The Maroons dropped to 8-9, 4-5 in conference play.

R-MC had a great shooting night, finishing 51.9% from the floor, 10-of-23 (43.5%) from three-point range and 24-of-29 (82.8%) from the free-throw line. The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded the Maroons, 41-28, scored 23 points off 16 Roanoke turnovers and outscored RC, 51-28 off the bench.
Randolph-Macon, ranked ninth in the D3Hoops.com Top-25 Poll, reeled its 13th-straight win of the season. They started off the game with a 14-4 lead and never trailed in the contest.

Corey Poindexter (Pulaski, VA, Pulaski County/Hargrave)
led the Maroons on a 7-2 run to close to within five points, 16-11 with 11:16 left in the first half. The senior guard scored all seven points during the quick spurt, capping it with a conventional three-point play.

Roanoke cut their deficit to four after two made free-throws by Melvin Felix (Caguas, Puerto Rico, Salem) at the 7:32 mark to make it, 23-19. From that point it was all Yellow Jackets as they closed the half on a 21-5 run to take a 20-point lead, 44-24.
Brandon Braxton led four Yellow Jackets in double-figures with 17 points, shooting 7-for-7 from the line and five rebounds. Adam Desgain was shot 5-for-6 from the floor, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc to finish with 16 points with three assists. Calvin Croskey contributed 13 points, hitting 3-of-6 from three-point range while Danny Jones added 11 points.

Poindexter led the Maroons with 12 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and two assists. Logan Singleton (Roanoke, VA, Hidden Valley) added 11 points as he finished 4-of-6 overall, 2-for-3 from downtown. Felix tossed in nine counters with two steals. Jack Hamilton (Arlington, VA, St, Stephen's St. Agnes) pulled down a team-best six rebounds.
The men return to action on Saturday as they host #18 Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action. It will be the second top-25 team the Maroons will face in three days. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Bast Center.
