Men's Lax drops regular season finale to Lynchburg

The men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-10 decision to Lynchburg on Saturday evening. The loss dropped the Maroons to 8-6 on the year and finished 2-4 in ODAC play. The Hornets improved to 12-2, 5-0 in the ODAC.
The stands were packed for the event during alumni weekend, with nearly 2,000 in attendance. At halftime, the school honored the 1978 National Championship Men's Lacrosse team, celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the team's accomplishment.
The Maroons outshot the Hornets, 47-46 and won the groundball battle, 46-31. Roanoke won 19-of-30 face-offs and were successful in 19-of-23 clear attempts.
Lynchburg scored three of the first four goals and never looked back as they built a 9-6 lead at the half.
The Hornets came out the gate in the second half and scored the first five goals to increase their lead to 14-6.
Billy Cameron led the late third quarter surge as he scored two of the next three Maroon goals to cut their deficit to 14-9 with 3:12 remaining in the third.
Lynchburg foiled any chance of a Roanoke comeback as the Hornets scored four of the final five goals to seal their ODAC-leading fifth victory.
Billy Cameron led the Maroons with three goals, one assist, won 10-of-17 face-offs and collected 10 groundballs. He has 421 groundballs, just seven shy of tying the school-record.
Ashton Hotchkiss finished with three goals and six groundballs followed by Stephen Simmons with two in addition to six groundballs. Trey Keeley had one goal and one assist for the Maroons.
Stephen Weis and Michael Mundorf each finished with five goals and an assist to lead the Hornets.
Jake Dorsey had nine saves for Roanoke. Garrett Curran finished with 19 for Lynchburg
