Box Score The women's basketball team took a big lead early and never looked back in a 67-48 win over Bridgewater on Wednesday evening. The Maroons improved to 5-7 on the season and 3-4 in ODAC play. The win ended a five-game losing skid. The Eagles ended a three-game winning streak and dropped to 5-6 overall, 3-4 in the ODAC.
The Maroons shot 41-percent from the floor, including 41.2% from three-point range hitting a season-high seven trey balls. They held Bridgewater to 32-percent from the field and eight-percent from beyond the arc. They outrebounded Bridgewater 46-34 as the Maroons posted their highest rebounding total of the season. They also distributed the ball well, with a season-best 20 assists in addition to a season-high 13 steals.
The Maroons owned the first 20 minutes of play, going up 38-22 at the half. The Maroons defense held the Eagles to a mere 25-percent shooting in the first half, including four of their five starters to only one field goal the entire first half (1-of-19).

Roanoke coasted in the second half as the Eagles would get no closer than 14 points as the Maroons won their first game since Dec. 4 against Lynchburg.
The high-low game was working well tonight as senior
Erin Hanson dumped all three of her assists down to freshman
Jordan Gholson before injuring her nose and was sidelined for the game. Gholson ended up with 15 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots.
Bridge tied a career-high 17 points (other was vs. Lynchburg in last win on 12/4) and hit a career-best four three-pointers (4-of-5).
Marcy Conner had four points and a career-best eight rebounds.
Virginia Anne Hagood finished with seven points and five boards.
Jaleesa Osborne had four points, seven assists and three steals. She was one assist from tying her career-high of eight, which was against the Eagles last season.
The Eagles were led by Nikki Snydor with 14 points and nine rebounds. The Maroons held leading scorer Jordan Buckholder to just six points on 3-of-15 shooting. Jessica Timberlake, the teams second leading scorer was held to only one point.
The women will be back in action this weekend as they will host Randolph College on Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. They will turnaround to host Lynchburg on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. The Maroons are 45-3 all-time vs. the Wildcats but fell to them 67-64 last season. They are 53-8 all-time vs. the Hornets and have a seven-game win streak against LC, including an 85-69 win on Dec. 4 at Lynchburg.
