Coach Blumenthal enters his fourth season on the men's soccer staff. This is his second stint as a coach with Roanoke College’s soccer programs. 

As a longtime coach at Blacksburg High School, Coach Blumenthal has led the Indians/Bruins to 12 state championships. He holds a career record of 613-56-25. He has coached five high school All-Americans and 13 Scholar All-Americans. 

Blumenthal spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Roanoke College Women's program and was an assistant coach with the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Champion Roanoke College Men's team. He also was an assistant and goalkeepers coach for the 1995 Roanoke Riverdawgs USL Pro team and spent a season as Co-Coach of the Virginia Tech Women's Club team which finished third nationally that year.

Blumenthal holds a B.A. and M.Ed. from Lynchburg College and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Coach B's coaching licenses include the Advanced National and National and Level I and II Goalkeeping from United Soccer Coaches. 

Coach B played collegiate soccer for legendary coach, and his mentor, Bill Shellenberger at Lynchburg College from 1975-1978. These teams reached three NCAA Tournament rounds of 16, won four conference championships, the Virginia State Championship, and the Virginia Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. As a goalkeeper, Coach B was a two time All-ODAC selection, ODAC Player of the Year, an All-State honoree, and an All-South award winner. Blumenthal was inducted into the Lynchburg Sports Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Virginia High School Hall of Fame in 2008.
