Biography

2001: Just two seasons ago, MacKeen was one of Roanoke's top scorers, posting five goals and nine assists during the 2000 season. Last year, however, the Maroon coaching staff believed that his talents would pay bigger dividends on the defensive end of the field, a move that MacKeen made a quick and skillful adjustment to. Starting all 21 games on defense for the Maroons last season, MacKeen's offensive production slipped of course, but he helped create, arguable, one of the best defensive units in the nation. Speed and quickness are not MacKeen's strongest points, although he is deceptive in both of those attributes, but instead he substitutes intelligence and hustle. Because  of his previous experiences as an attacking player, MacKeen is one of the most well rounded soccer players on the club and has strong understanding of how to defend goal scorers. 


2000 – started in all 20 games… totaled 35 shots, five goals and nine assist for 19 points… scored a goal and dished out two assists against LaRoche in the season-opener… had five shots, with two goals and an assist vs. Cabrini… dished out two assists with four shots against Bethany… had two assists in loss to Christopher Newport… had a goal and an assist with five shots in conference-win over Emory & Henry.


1999 – appeared in 14 matches… totaled 14 shots, one goal and one assist for three points… scored only goal of the season against Bridgewater… dished out only assist of the season vs. Eastern Mennonite… had season-high four shots in ODAC Tournament vs. Washington & Lee… registered three shots against Randolph-Macon.


Personal - Named Most Valuable Player of Forsyth Country Day soccer team as a junior and senior… First Team All-Conference pick, Second Team All-Region selection … member of the National Honor Society.
