Career Highlights: In his first three seasons in Salem, Winfield played in a total of 25 games. As a senior with the program, the Athens, TN native appeared in 23 games and made the start in 18 of those. He went into the 2004-05 with a total of 11 points to his credit, but as a senior scored nine times that amount, finishing the campaign with a total of 99 points. He scored a career-high 16 points in the team's home win over Hampden-Sydney College. In his freshman through junior seasons, Winfield had made two three-pointers. Nine times during his senior season he made at least two in a single-game. In the team's home win over Hampden-Sydney and a road game at Bridgewater Winfield knocked down a season-best four three-pointers. Winfield is currently an assistant coach at Division II Carson-Newman (TN) College.
2003-04: Winfield played in seven games for the Maroons during his junior season … he scored three points, all three coming on a three-point field goal in a home win over Washington & Lee University … Winfield served as an assistant coach with the Roanoke College junior varsity program during the 2003-04 season.
2002-03: Winfield scored a season-high two points in the team's ODAC quarterfinal victory over Guilford College at the Salem Civic Center … he also had a single point in the Maroons' game at Maryville (TN) College … he blocked a shot and had a rebound in the contest at Maryville and also had a rebound in the ODAC tournament win over Guilford.
2001-02: Got court time in 10 games for the Maroons … got his first collegiate points on a three-pointer on the road against Randolph-Macon … made his only field goal attempt against Eastern Mennonite … had a rebound and an assist at home against Lynchburg … had his lone steal of the season in a home contest against W&L … got valuable minutes developing in the Maroon JV program, averaging 11 points and four rebounds a game.
Personal: Was a two-year starter for McMinn County High School in Athens, TN … averaged 10.0 points per game as a junior and followed that by averaging 12.0 points a game in his final high school campaign … played for Keith Elliott at McMinn … Winfield will graduate from the college with a degree in Business Administration.
