Career Highlights: Rutledge became known as a defensive stopper in his career at Roanoke College. Late in the 2003-04 season, he became a key reserve as a point guard. In his time with the team, the Abingdon, VA native averaged 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds. His career-high point effort came twice during his junior season, scoring six against both Emory & Henry and Otterbein College. His 36 assists during his senior season were fourth most on the team. He played in every Maroon game over the course of his final two seasons with the Maroons, starting 24 contests. He also played 10 or more minutes in all but two games in his last two seasons with the team.
2002-03: As a junior, Rutledge started 22 games for Page Moir's club and appeared in all 27 … he scored a season-high six points in contests with Otterbein and Emory & Henry and also got to five in the scoring column three times … he had at least one rebound in all but two games and played 10 or more minutes in each of the team's 27 games … a home win over Washington & Lee saw Rutledge record a season-high two steals.
2001-02: Played in 19 of the Maroon games, averaging 6.1 minutes a contest … was not counted on to be a scorer, but rather more of a defensive and transition player … averaged 0.6 points a game … scored a season-high three points in 11 minutes in a win at Emory & Henry … saw a career-high 17 minutes in a victory at Eastern Mennonite … grabbed a career-high five rebounds in a home win over Lynchburg College … handed out a season and career-high four assists in the EMU victory … had his lone three-pointer and two steals in the E&H road game.
2000-01: Spent the early part of the season on Roanoke's junior varsity team, but was called into varsity action late in the campaign … got on the court in five contests for the Maroons, scoring six points in 15 minutes … had field goals against Lynchburg and Christopher Newport and also had two assists in the ODAC win over LC.
Personal: Played basketball at Abingdon High School where he also played football and baseball and ran track … was the Big Six Basketball Player of the Year as a senior and also garnered several All-District and All-Region honors in football and baseball.
