With more than a decade of high-level experience developing championship-caliber offensive linemen and coordinating dynamic run games, Jonathan Hoggard brings a proven record of success and leadership to the field as he takes on his latest coaching role at Roanoke College.
A respected veteran in high school football, Hoggard has coached in five Virginia High School League (VHSL) 6A State Championship games, going 4-1, including titles in 2014, 2020, 2021, and 2024. Over the course of his career, his public school record is 88-5 and has guided over 40 offensive linemen toward achieving their dream of playing college football.
Coach Hoggard’s resume includes high-profile stops at Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, VA), Ocean Lakes High School (Virginia Beach, VA), and Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, where he also served as Athletic Director. He has coached in the prestigious 2014 Army All-American Game in San Antonio, TX, and has worked numerous camps hosted by elite programs such as Notre Dame, Florida State University, and Tennessee. In his three years at Bishop Sullivan Catholic, he was part of a nationally recognized program that squared off against national powerhouses including IMG Academy (FL), Colquitt High School (GA), and Good Counsel High School (MD).
Beyond the Xs and Os, Hoggard is known for his unwavering commitment to player development—on and off the field. His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, character, and mental toughness, with a focus on building relationships and understanding each athlete's unique strengths.
