The Short story: The Roanoke College women's volleyball team split a pair of five-set matches Friday in dramatic fashion to open the Averett University Cougar Classic.
RC rallied from two sets down to beat Salem and fell just 15-13 in the fifth set to Greensboro in the second match. Junior
Kaci Morrison had 34 kills and five blocks overall.
Inside the numbers (vs. Salem):
* Morrison had a team-best 19 kills and
Olivia Horneman had 13 kills and 12 blocks.

Emma Catoe delivered 11 kills with no errors and four blocks.

Raygan Wade distributed 32 assists with 10 digs and
Abby Bishop had 15 assists and eight digs.

Payten Johnston and
Teagan Hubble combined for 25 digs. Hubble and
Cassidy Zalinski each had three service aces.
*Ellie Scherer had 24 kills for Greensboro (0-1).

*Zalinski served nine aces and added 14 assists.
*Morrison again came up big with 15 kills and just two errors.
