McDonald sets program record as RC falls to Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. - Maddie McDonald took over as the program leader in single season goals as the Roanoke College women's battled it out with Randolph-Macon in the ODAC semifinals.

How It Happened 

  • It was back and forth in the first quarter, with R-MC coming out with the slight advantage at 4-3. 

  • The Maroons responded well in the second, scoring the first three goals of the quarter to take a 6-5 lead into the half. 

  • After the Yellow Jackets evened it early in the third, Maddie McDonald tallied a hat trick to extend RC's lead to three goals. 

  • It was a high scoring fourth with Randolph-Macon scoring six to rally back and force overtime. R-MC then scored with less than two minutes to go in overtime to take the game. 

Notes and Notables 

  • With her team leading eight goals in the game, Maddie McDonald hit 89 goals for the season, making her the official program leader in single season goals. She also tied her career high for single game goals. 

  • Ryan Tinervin also had a multi-point game, tallying a goal and an assist. 

  • McDonald led in draw controls with six on the evening. 

  • Kendall Todd made 10 saves between the pipes in the contest.
