Men's soccer scores twice in final 10 minutes to earn 2-0 win

SALEM, Va. - Ryan Pidgeon tallied a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of the game to help the Roanoke College men's soccer team to their second home win of the week.

How It Happened 

  • Harrison Kraus earned a penalty kick for the Maroons in the 81st minute. Ryan Pidgeon then stepped up to the spot and buried the kick into the left side of the goal. 

  • In the final minute, Penn-State Abington sent everyone up, including the goalkeeper, for a free kick. RC locked it down defensively though and went on a quick counterattack. Ryan Pidgeon then dribbled up the field and finished with a long pass into a wide-open net from 35 yards out. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Pidgeon now has three goals in the past two games and has tied his single season career high. 

  • It was also Pidgeon's first multi-goal game of his career. 

  • Roanoke had the advantage in shots 12-10 and shots on goal 7-6. 

  • Aidan McHugh played all 90 minutes in net and registered five saves on the afternoon. The victory is also McHugh's second consecutive clean sheet.
