The Short Story: The Denison University women's soccer team netted a goal in each half to score a 2-0 victory Sunday against Roanoke College in the final game of the two-day, four-team Roanoke Invitational.
How it happened:
*Mattie Melke scored just 2:17 into the game off a free kick and the two teams stayed even the rest of the half.
*Emily Stackhouse added the insurance goal under a minute after intermission.
*The Maroons challenged several times during the contest. A
Rebecca Carr shot in the first half went just wide and
Lauren Rubino had a shot on goal turned away by keeper Molly Noga in the second half.
