Men's volleyball advances to ODAC Championship game

SALEM, Va. - The Roanoke College men's volleyball team took down Eastern Mennonite 3-0 to win the program's first ever playoff game and advance to the ODAC Championship game.

How It Happened 

  • The Maroons went on a few runs early to jump out to a 7-1 lead. While EMU tried to pull it close, Roanoke used a five-point run in the middle of the set to suppress the Royals. Roanoke went on to win the set 25-12. 

  • It was a back and forth second set with EMU even going up 24-21. RC did not lay down though, instead they went on a five-point run. The Maroons utilized a service ace and two big blocks to turn the corner and finish the job to win the set 26-24. 

  • With all the momentum in their favor, Roanoke went to work in the third set. After gaining a slight advantage in the beginning of the set, RC used two big runs in the middle and back half of the set to widen the gap. They finished off Eastern Mennonite in the third by a score of 25-15. 

Notes and Notables 

  • Pierce Faulcon had a season best 13 kills in the match while posting a .545 hitting percentage. Faulcon was one shy of his career high of 14 kills. 

  • Kaeden Noble hit double digit digs for the 17th time this season with 14 in the contest. 

  • Michael Cummins wasn't too far behind Noble in digs with eight. Cummins also recorded seven kills on the night. 

  • Teagan Cole led Roanoke with 19 assists. He has now had double figure assists in all but five of the 31 matches he's played in. 

Up Next  
The Maroons will travel to Randolph-Macon on Saturday (Apr. 12) to compete for the first ever ODAC Championship. First serve for the title game is set for 2:00 pm.
