The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team led for the vast majority of the game Saturday night, but the University of Lynchburg, ranked No. 13 this week in Division III, rallied for a 19-18 win in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Junior midfielder
Julian Kammerman set a career-high with six goals,
Wyatt Whitlow posted five goals and two assists and
Luke Kammerman compiled four goals and two helpers.
How it happened:
*The game was tied 2-2 before a 4-0 Roanoke run, with three tallies from
Julian Kammerman, put RC ahead 6-2. Two Hornet goals made the score 6-4 after one period.
*With his team ahead 7-6 in the second period,
Luke Kammerman closed out the quarter with a pair of goals as the Maroons took a 9-6 edge into halftime.
*A total of 13 goals were scored in the third quarter, Lynchburg outscored Roanoke 7-6 to enter the fourth behind 15-13. Whitlow had a hat trick in the period alone.
*The teams exchanged goals to open the fourth but the Hornets used a 4-0 run to go ahead 19-16 with 4:53 left. Whitlow scored at 2:13 and
Julian Kammerman netted his sixth with 51 ticks left on the clock. Lynchburg won the face-off and was able to run out the clock. The Hornets only led for 6:36 of the contest, but it was the final portion of the game.

*Lynchburg won 26-of-40 face-offs, with Riley Frankel successful in 24 of his 33 attempts.
*Riley Hastings had five goals and two assists for Lynchburg (7-4/4-0).
