The Short Story: The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team fell Saturday to No. 4 Christopher Newport University 16-7 in non-conference action.  
 
How it happened:
*The Captains netted the game's first three goals before Clayton Bewick found the back of the net at 9:25. The two teams exchanged goals twice as CNU took a 5-3 lead after one period.
*CNU scored all three goals of the second stanza to assume an 8-3 lead midway through the action.
*The Maroons rallied with scores from Wyatt Whitlow and Patrick Cullen to cut the advantage to 8-5, but the Captains netted the next four goals.   
 
 Inside the numbers:
*Luca Docking, Bewick and Cullen each had two scores.
*Whitlow had a goal and an assist and Julian Kammerman and Luke Kammerman each had an assist.
*Alex Feuer made 16 stops in net.
*Weston Hammond scooped five ground balls and caused three turnovers while Logan O'Sullivan had five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
*Jamie Smith scored six times for CNU (7-0).
