Maroon Cheer Claims First Place at CCA College Nationals

Fayetteville, NC — The Roanoke College Cheerleading team took home first place at the CCA College Nationals on March 1 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, capping off a season of hard work and dedication with an outstanding performance.

The Maroons not only secured the top spot but also showed significant improvement between their performances, increasing their score by six points in their second routine. The team's ability to adapt, refine, and elevate their skills on the competition floor solidified their championship victory.

"I'm so proud of this team," said head coach Katelyn Kaminski. "They have overcome so much this season and really bought into building our program and setting a standard. The historic win at nationals reflects the team's perseverance and commitment throughout the season. From training sessions to game-day performances, the Maroons have worked tirelessly to push the program forward and make an impact on and off the mat."

Following their championship success, the team wrapped up their season on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with a community service visit to Friendship Nursing Home in Salem, Virginia. This final act of service exemplified their dedication not only to competition but also to giving back to the community.

"With this title, Roanoke College Cheer has set a new standard for the program, and the future looks bright as we continue to build on this success," said Kaminski. "Go Maroons!"
