DANVILLE, Va. – The Roanoke College wrestling team finished second Friday and Saturday at the Division III Region 4 Championships, hosted by Averett University, and had five Maroons qualify for national competition. Sophomore Vincenzo Corvetto won the regional title at 184 pounds and Nate Yetzer was named the Region IV Coach of the Year (regular season) for the second-straight year.

Corvetto will be joined by Isiac Paulino (125), Jonah Paulino (133), Mark Samuel (141) and Xavier Preston (174) at the NCAA Division III Championships in Providence, R.I. March 14-15. The top three finishers in each weight class earn a trip to Nationals.  

Baldwin-Wallace won the team title with 180 points, followed by Roanoke with 154.5 points.

How it happened:
*Corvetto rolled to the finals with two pins and a technical fall. He defeated Remington Bauer from Baldwin Wallace 9-6 to earn the championship.
*Jonah Paulino took second after winning three matches to reach the finals. He had one pin and two technical falls.
*Isiac Paulino went 5-1 to take third, with one pin, two technical falls and one major decision.
*Samuel was 4-1 to earn a trip back to the Nationals, looking to earn All-American honors for the second-straight season.
*Preston was 5-1 with two technical falls.
*Andrew McDougal and David Reid each placed fourth to narrowly miss out on advancing to the NCAA Championships. McDougal fell just 3-2 in the third-place match at 157 while Reid lost 4-2 in the third-place match at 165.
*Hunter Moore was fifth at 197, Nicholas Cook took sixth at 285 and Dustin Smith was seventh at 149.
