FOREST, Va. – The Roanoke College wrestling team won three of the four major awards as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) made the announcement Tuesday.
Nate Yetzer earned Coach of the Year honors,
Cade Parent was Rookie of the Year and
Mac Cafurello took home the Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Yetzer earned the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III National Men's Coach of the Year honors. Yetzer led the Maroons to a 15-0 record this year, a No. 1 team dual ranking in the nation and ODAC and Region 4 titles.
Parent had an impressive freshman season in Salem. He went 29-11 overall at 165 pounds with 10 pins, eight technical falls and two major decisions. He placed second at Regionals to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Cafurello was the 2023-24 ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year but sat out last year due to injury. The Division III Region 4 Champion at 125 pounds, Cafurello boasted a 21-3 record with six tech falls and two major decisions. He is enrolled in Roanoke's Master of Education program.
W&L's Liam Flanagan was tabbed as the conference's Wrestler of the Year - the ODAC Wrestler of the Year must have competed in the ODAC Championships and been a weight class winner.
