The Short story: The University of Redlands (Calif.) used a large second-half run to outlast the Roanoke College men's basketball team 79-60 Friday in a battle of Top 25 teams in the Hampden-Sydney College Holiday Classic.
The Redlands is ranked No. 11 in this week's D3hoops.com poll, with Roanoke coming in at No. 13.
How it happened:
*Redlands opened a 14-7 lead but the Maroons rallied with a 12-4 run to go ahead 19-18. The Bulldogs took a small 36-31 edge into halftime.
*Redlands' defense triggered a 14-0 surge after intermission, and Roanoke trailed 52-32 at the 13:31 mark. RC clawed back in to the game with a 15-3 run to cut the advantage to 55-47 with 9:42 remaining.
Inside the numbers:

Grant Hamilton tied a career-high with 18 points, nailing 5-of-7 three-point attempts.

Gavin O'Malley posted 11 points and seven rebounds.
