The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team was defeated 84-79 by Wesleyan University (Conn.) in an early-season top 20 battle at the Governor's Challenge.

*The Maroons took a 23-6 lead just seven minutes into the game and extended the advantage to 46-24 with 4:38 left in the half. Wesleyan cut the edge to 50-38 at halftime.
