FOREST, Va. – Roanoke College senior
Halle Schart earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week for the week of November 17.
Schart, from Mount Pleasant, S.C., also was named the conference's women's swimmer of the week on November 3, the last week the Maroons were in competition. She finished as the second high-point swimmer at the VMI Keydet Invitational this weekend.
Schart finished first in a pair of individual events with a third-place showing in a third. She also contributed to four relays with one gold medal, one silver, and one bronze. Schart's highlight swim came in the 100-yard backstroke where she won the event and eclipsed the NCAA B-cut standard with a nationally ninth-ranked time of 56.54. She also won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.64, which is 22nd in Division III. Both times are No. 1 in the ODAC, while her third-place mark of 0:24.44 in the 50-yard freestyle is second in the conference and 76th nationally. Schart competed in two freestyle and two medley relays. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, she swam the anchor leg (52.65 split) with
Julianna Morrow,
Claire Ballard, and
Kate Pearson. They finished third at 3:37.32. In the 200-yard medley relay, Schart swam third with Morrow, Pearson, and Ballard, placing second at 1:48.63. The same group and sequence of swimmers finished third in the 400-yard medley relay at 4:00.05.
Roanoke is off from varsity competition until Jan. 10.
