How It Happened

  • William Gardiner sent a ball down the wing for Austin Briggs in the 34th minute. Briggs then drove down the right side and delivered a cross to a wide open Pacific Ibanzi. Ibanzi then finished it one-time with his right foot into the lower left corner.

  • In the 40th minute, Logan Lavinder found himself with room to cut in and drive on the left flank. Lavinder then put in a through ball to Carlos Lomena who ran onto it and finished with a looping ball over the keeper.

  • Ibanzi took a corner in the 61st minute that ricocheted off A Guilford player a found its way inside the back post to make it 3-0.

  • Chase Rubincam played a long ball into Austin Briggs who settled it and slipped it through to Lomena. Lomena then found himself in a 1v1 with the keeper and chipped it over with enough curl to make it past the post and round out the scoring for the night.

Notes and Notables

  • Ibanzi's goal was his first of the season. He now has two career goals, both of which are against Guilford and served as the game-winning goals.

  • Lomena's brace is the first multi-goal performance of his career and brings his season total to three tallies.

  • Briggs' assists were the first two of his career as well as his first points.

  • Similarly, Lavinder's helper was the first of his time with the Maroons and his first career point.

  • Austin recorded the only save of the game, which was the first of his career, in the waning minutes.

  • Roanoke had the advantage in shots, 18-11, shots on goal 8-2, and corner kicks, 10-2, in the contest.
