The Short story: The Roanoke College men's basketball team outscored visiting Shenandoah University 36-23 in the second half to earn a 70-52 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win Saturday.
With the win, the Maroons move into sole possession of first place in the conference standings at 7-1, followed by Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan with 6-1 ODAC marks.
How it happened:
*Roanoke opened a 21-9 edge at 11:42 of the first half, but the Hornets used an 18-8 run to cut the lead to 29-27 with 2:47 left. The Maroons led 34-29 at the break, with nine points from
Marcus Morgan and eight from
Ryan Truitt.
*The Maroons came out strong in the second half, using a 15-4 surge to forge a 52-37 lead with less than 10 minutes left and led by at least 12 the rest of the way.
Inside the numbers:

Joshua McClary netted 12 of his game-high 17 points in the second half.

Joshua Morse finished just shy of a double double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
*Morgan finished with 11 points and six boards and
Gavin O'Malley contributed six points and eight rebounds.

Grant Hamilton each had six points.
*Gavin Bizyak posted 16 points and nine rebounds for Shenandoah (6-11/1-7).
