The Short Story: The second-seeded and 15th-ranked Hornets defeated the third-seeded and 20th-ranked Maroons 12-6 in the semifinal round of the conference men's lacrosse tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Julian Kammerman's goal with 7:10 to play in the first quarter knotted the score at 1-1. Lynchburg would bag the next three markers, pulling ahead 4-1 on a goal from Riley Hastings at the 12:11 mark of the second quarter.
  • Back-to-back extra-man scores from Noah Bell and Quinn Evans – both assisted by Luke Kammerman – brought the Maroons to within 4-3 with 6:57 remaining in the period.
  • But the Hornets closed the first half on a 4-0 run, taking an 8-3 advantage into the intermission.
  • Lynchburg shut out Roanoke in the third quarter, tacking on two more goals at the other end to stretch the margin to 10-3.
  • Patrick Cullen opened the fourth-period scoring to make it 10-4. Following two more Lynchburg goals, Luca Docking netted consecutive markers to cut the deficit to 12-6 with 3:24 to play.
  • But the Maroons' rally would fall short, as the Hornets advanced to play host to No. 5 seed Randolph-Macon in the ODAC championship game on Saturday.
