The Short Story: Third-seeded Sweet Briar defeated sixth-seeded Roanoke 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the ODAC women's tennis tournament on Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Vixens snared an early 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles competition. Alex Guilarte and Ana Patino defeated Halle Fernstrum and Julia Bassett 8-1 at the top spot, Isabela Guilarte and Maria Caro bested Victoria Rios and Lia Streibich 8-1 at No. 2, and Guusje van Eekelen and Juli Caracciolo knocked off Camryn Breedlove and Sidney Wright 8-0 at No. 3.
• Sweet Briar clinched the victory by collecting singles wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Caracciolo beat Breedlove 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot, while Isadora Lima recorded a 6-0, 6-1 result over Wright at No. 6.
• The postseason contest was played only to completion, so the other singles matches were unfinished.

Up Next: The Vixens advance to face No. 2 seed Averett in the ODAC semifinals on Saturday, while the Maroons have completed their season with an 8-12 overall record.
