How it happened:
*The Cougars went ahead 2-0 in the first inning, aided by a triple. Roanoke tied the game with one run each in the fourth and fifth, the first scoring on a Tucker Schiavoni single and the second on a Dylan Bonzon double.
*Mason Williams brought home two Cougars with a one-out single in the seventh.
The Short story: The Averett University baseball team hung on Tuesday afternoon to defeat Roanoke College 4-2 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game. 
Roanoke had won nine of its last 11 games coming into today's contest.
*The Maroons had runners at first and second with two outs in the ninth, but had a runner picked off to end the contest.
Inside the numbers:
*Bonzon had two hits and leadoff man Corey Coogan walked three times and was hit by a pitch.
*Hayden Giordano tripled and Schiavoni also walked.
*Brae Farrell threw scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit.
*Preston Robbins had three hits for Averett.
Up Next:
*Roanoke (16-14/10-4) hosts Bridgewater College Saturday in an ODAC doubleheader starting at noon in Salem Memorial Ballpark. The program's 10 seniors will be honored before game one on Senior Day.
