The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team swept Southern Virginia University Tuesday 5-1 and 12-1 in a non-conference doubleheader from Harvey-Dryden Field.

Allie Bell, in the first start of her collegiate career, put the game out of reach with a grand slam in the fifth. Â

Baylee Compton scattered seven hits and three walks over six innings with four strikeouts to earn the win.

How it happened (Game 2)
*Roanoke jumped on the Knights early in the nightcap, scoring three in the first and adding four in the third and three in the fourth.
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*The Maroons had 13 hits and took advantage of five SVU errors in just four innings at the plate.
*McQueeney was 3-3 with a double and a stolen base while
Lilly Burns was 2-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBI.

Kate Houle was 2-2 with two runs scored as nine Maroons had hits in the contest.
