HOW IT HAPPENED
- Roanoke fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. Zach Kriebel and Federico Maccari secured an 8-4 win over Ryan McClure and Holden Schmid at No. 1. But Colton Mace and Elliott Warner knocked off Julio Marques and Jackson Wagner 8-3 at the No. 2 spot, while Adam McMillen and Andrew Cavett defeated Lance Beheler and Hardt Lesko 8-7 at No. 3.
- But the Maroons dominated singles play, taking five of the six matches in straight sets to earn the overall victory. Kriebel bested Mace 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1; Maccari downed McClure 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2; Marques dispatched Schmid 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3; Lesko slipped past Warner 7-5, 7-6 at No. 4; and Beheler beat McMillen 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
- The Purple Raiders' lone singles point came at No. 5, where Cavett scored a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Wagner.
