The Short Story: The Maroons went 1-1 during a trip to the Volunteer State on Friday, beating Maryville before falling to NAIA foe Johnson.

ROANOKE 6, MARYVILLE 3
- Maryville secured a 2-1 lead through doubles competition. Julio Marques and John-Henry Herrington earned an 8-4 victory over Kaleb Burke and Jonathan Crane at No. 2, but Jackson Meyer and James Smith defeated Zach Kriebel and Federico Maccari 8-6 at the top spot, and Seth Green and Ben Wyrick knocked off Jackson Wagner and Marco Gustafson 8-5 at No. 3.
- Roanoke recovered to win five of the six singles matches. Maccari bested Meyer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, Marques beat Crane 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3, Hardt Lesko downed Green 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 10-5 at No. 4, Herrington slipped past Gabriel Villalonga Serra 7-5, 6-7 (5), 10-8 at No. 5, and Lance Beheler won 6-4, 6-0 over Burke at No. 6.
- The Scots' only singles point came in the top flight, where Smith defeated Kriebel 6-2, 6-1.
JOHNSON 4, ROANOKE 3
- Roanoke won two of the three doubles matches to earn one point in a contest played under best-of-7 scoring rules. Ignacio Gamarra and Igor Porolis defeated Kriebel and Maccari 6-3 at No. 1. But the Maroons got a 7-6 (5) win from Marques and Herrington over Miguel Sanchez Loo and Benjamin Barrios at No. 2, along with a 6-1 victory for Beheler and Lesko against Mason Wrisley and Felippe Amore at No. 3.
- The Royals bounced back to take four of the six singles contests. The Maroons' victories came in the No. 2 flight, where Maccari overcame Loo 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-4, and at No. 6, with Beheler outlasting Pedro Ozelim 3-6, 6-1, 14-12.
- Elsewhere, Gamarra defeated Kriebel at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1), Barrios knocked off Marques at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0), Porolis downed Lesko at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), and Noah Brown held off Herrington at No. 5 (6-3, 3-6, 11-9).
- With the non-conference split, Roanoke is now 9-3 overall on the season.
