The Short story: The Roanoke College softball team showed no rust after 11 days off from varsity competition Friday, sweeping an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Friday 14-4 (5 inn.) and 10-0 (6 inn.) at Eastern Mennonite University.
Junior
Lindsay Gedro fell just one out short of a no hitter in the second game, allowing a two-out single in the bottom of the sixth. She walked just two with five strikeouts.
How it happened:
*After a scoreless first inning of the opener, the Maroon offense exploded for two runs each in the second and third, three in the fourth and seven in the fifth.
*Roanoke plated two runs in the first and second innings in game two and after one in the fifth added five more in the sixth.
Inside the numbers (Game 1):

Ally Brown was 2-2 with a home run, a walk and three RBI.

Kate Houle was 3-3 with two runs scored and a double and
Morgan Clark and
Molly Epperson were also each 3-3.

Lilly Burns went 2-4 with two RBI and
Lauren Hoffman and
Heather McQueeney each had a hit and a walk.

Maggie McCray struck out eight over four innings to earn the win in the circle.
*Grace Fravel had a three-run home run for the Royals (4-9/0-4 ODAC). Â
Inside the numbers (Game 2):
*McQueeney went 3-3 with three runs, three RBI and a triple.
*Epperson concluded a perfect day at the plate, again going 3-3 and added three RBI. She raised her batting average nearly 100 points, moving from .323 to .432.
*Houle blasted a two-run pinch hit home run.
